For a lobster at a Chinese restaurant, a long stint in the tank away from the dinner plate is usually a good thing.

But the wait became a bit too long for Lucky, a 40-centimetre Southern Rock lobster at an Ashfield Chinese restaurant, when he was abandoned in his two-foot tank after the restaurant owners were evicted.

Fortunately for Lucky, the RSPCA was tipped off about the forsaken crustacean, and yesterday it rescued Lucky, along with a silver perch and two abalone.

“He’s as happy as a lobster can get,” [an RSPCA spokeswoman] said of Lucky’s mood.
